I’m trying to share some couples costumes we have used in the past in case you are in need of something last minute this month! In 2022, Steve and I went to a Halloween party dressed as a cactus and gardener. Of course, my love of plants made this a fun couples costume to pull together! And Steve is always a good sport, which is sort of required when dressing up. It’s fun to have a little fun together. Also, this cactus works because Steve happens to be tall. Ha! Here’s how to create a plant and gardener couples costume.
Gardener’s Look
I didn’t have to purchase one item for my look! Of course, I have all these items on hand and I use all of them in real life! This costume was actually comfy and the apron was a great phone holder. I did not carry around the cactus all night, just a prop for photos.
- Apron
- Plastic watering can (something lightweight)
- Rain boots
- Jeans
- Plant Lady sweatshirt or tee shirt
- Gardening gloves
- Gardening shears
- Trowel
- Plant Lady pins
- Sun hat

Cactus Look
Steve makes for a great cactus! I told him he needed to stand with his arms up all night…just kidding, he’s a good sport! He indulges my love of plants and cactus. He actually had these orange sweats in his closet so we only had to purchase the actual cactus costume. The orange is to represent a terra cotta pot, which I love to put my cacti in.
