Over the weekend I made some cupcakes to take to a backyard get together. I much prefer a cupcake over a cake, especially for a large group for easy grabbing. The problem is always with the transport and keeping the frosting from touching on the cupcakes. A quick search and I found this method! Here’s how to easily transport cupcakes using a DIY method.

Items Needed
You only need two items for this cupcake transport method – a large cookie sheet and painters tape. I love this method because you likely have these items on hand! The other reason I love this method is because you don’t have to buy a big, bulky cupcake transporter. I don’t love clutter and excess things that I will barely use. Being that I don’t have to transport cupcakes often, this method requires no extra “tools”. Painters tape works well because it’s super easy to work with and peel off.

Cupcake Flavors
This is a boxed Devil’s Food cake and store bought chocolate icing! I added some Heath candy pieces on top to make them a little more festive and “homemade” looking. You could literally add so many things to the top of cupcakes to make them more special with minimal effort. The key to making boxed cupcakes look a little nicer is filling up the cups with the batter. They bake a bit bigger!

How to Transport Cupcakes
This is as easy at it looks! Simply make a grid of 20 squares using painters tape. Just eyeball! Painters tape is forgiving, so you can pull it up and stick it back down if needed. My cookie sheet was large enough to make 20 squares, which is exactly what I needed.
Add your cupcakes to the squares and get ready to transport! My daughter held the tray in the car with no issues. I think you could easily put these on a seat or a floor board of a car as well with no problems. Or, walk with this to your neighbors house or wherever you are headed. The tape keeps the cupcakes secure and they don’t wiggle and jiggle around.

I’ve only used this method once, but based on the amount of shares and saves it received on Instagram and Tik Tok, I’m learning you are just discovering this method like I did! Next time, I think I will put parchment paper on the bottom of the cookie sheet to make a little more decorative. When I got to the party, I simply removed the tape and kept the cupcakes on the cookie sheet for serving. That way I didn’t have to bring another platter/plate. Adding something on the bottom of the sheet would make it look a little nicer! Hope you like this method too! xo
