It’s time for the Super bowl and our hometown team is in the big game! Go Chiefs! In rounding up some game day recipes from the blog, I realized I never blogged about this one. This is the perfect food because it’s grab and go, no utensils required. Be sure to make a double batch because these will go quick! Here’s how to make sausage Rotel crescent roll ups for your next get together.
How to Make Sausage Rotel Crescent Roll Ups
Ingredients
- one roll of pork sausage you could use hot if you like it spicy
- one brick of cream cheese
- one can rotel also comes in mild or hot
- two rolls crescent rolls
Instructions
- Brown sausage over medium heat until cooked through. Drain any grease if necessary and return to pan.
- Add cream cheese and stir until melted.
- Drain rotel and add to the pan. IMPORTANT: BE SURE TO SQUEEZE OUT ALL THE LIQUID. EVEN WHEN YOU THINK ITS GOOD, KEEP SQUEEZING THE LIQUID OUT.
- Using both rolls of crescents, cut each triangle into two triangles leaving you with a total of 32 small triangles. These do not have to be pefect! You just need a vessel to put the sausage mixture in.
- Add a spoonful of sausage/cream cheese/rotel mixture to each triangle and roll up. You will have to eyeball to make sure each triangle has a similar amount.
- Bake at 375 degrees on an uncreased cookie sheet until crescents are browned, approximately 10-13 minutes (check periodically so the bottoms don’t get burned).
As you can see here, you don’t have to make perfect roll ups! As long as your mixture is stuffed inside the crescent roll, you’re good! They will bake up just fine.
The hardest part of this whole recipe is stuffing those little triangles! These sausage rotel crescent roll ups are perfect any time of year, for any occasion. You could also prepare the sausage mixture ahead of time and bake later. I hope you will try this easy and crowd pleasing appetizer!
BONUS TIP: Short on time? You can simply put the sausage/cream cheese/rotel mixture in a pie plate. Top with cheese and bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Serve with tortilla chips! GO CHIEFS! XO
