When we finished out our basement, we wanted it to feel comfortable and feel like us. Part of that was finding a way to incorporate sports into the basement without it feeling too “man cave”-like. We knew this would be a space to gather family and friends to watch games. And if you know us at all, you know that we are a HUGE sports family. We played sports, we watch sports, and our kids plays sports. We have our “teams”, we live in a sports town, and we have been to sporting events all over the world including a Korean baseball game and European soccer games! Que the oversized cork board which serves as one big piece of art!
We wanted to have somewhere to pin our memorabilia without it taking up a lot of space. Finally, we decided on a large cork board that we found on Amazon. The best part is, this gets delivered right to your door, so no hassle with getting it in your car!
We are able to pin photos, tickets, towels, posters, stickers, etc with ease on this oversized cork board. The large scale makes it a statement piece. My husband anchored the cork board to the wall so it is very sturdy. It just seems so fitting for our family. It also adds color and personality to the otherwise neutral basement! We just love it!
You can quickly see we are Iowa Hawkeye fans! Cubs fans! Royals Fans! And our hometown Chiefs just won the Superbowl! I also like to pin photos of our time in the basement. We have a photo from when the Cubs won the World Series too!
We also pin local KC stuff or vacation stuff if it feels right! Our home office also has two bulletin boards, and each of the kids have a bulletin board in their rooms. It’s such an easy way to add some whimsy and personality to the space! XO
