Happy October! We booked a last minute trip for the end of the month, the kids have chosen their costumes, and the Cubs made it to the postseason! It’s now time to get the house ready for Halloween. The only indoor decorating I’m doing for Halloween is on the mantel. It’s a large space and a focal point in our open concept home, so it seems like the perfect spot to add a little bit of “spookiness”! Here’s how to decorate a Halloween mantel.
I love all things skulls and skeletons for Halloween! Every year I try to use what I have and grab a few things I find. Halloween is the perfect time to make things gaudy and dramatic!
The guy on the left was a thrift store find from several years ago. I have used him both outside and inside. He sits upright, which makes him fun! The metallic skull is from Homegoods, and the skeleton is from Michaels. I love that he has bent knees for sitting on the edge of the mantel. And a fun smile. Oh, and crossed legs. Ha! The letter board was a gift and I love moving it around!
The black/silver skulls are from Dollar Tree, as well as the small white skull. Target always has great skulls for cheap. I added some height variation with black/white books and thrifted candlesticks.
Lastly, I added some flickering flameless candles from Target underneath the TV and draped the entire mantel with “creepy” cloth from Dollar Tree.
The skull garland is from Homegoods and it’s my favorite part! I hope you like it!
I hope you enjoyed how to decorate a Halloween mantel. For whatever reason, Halloween is one of my favorites! Give me all the skulls, skeletons, and black and white decor. XO
