These mini key lime tarts are such an easy dessert to whip up because it’s very semi-homemade. I use prepackaged graham cracker crusts and store bought whip cream. You just need to mix a few ingredients together, bake for 10 minutes, and you’re done. This tasty treat is perfect for summer with the tart flavor and pretty color. I absolutely love anything tart! These are also fail-proof and look fancy without a lot of effort. Here is how to make mini key lime tarts.
Make them Mini
Obviously, you can make a key lime pie. The thing I love about this dessert is the mini option, which I why I’m calling them tarts. Single serve and easy to serve to your family, guests, or yourself. Once finished, toss the aluminum tin away! You can find these mini graham crackers in the baking aisle of the grocery store. Of course you can customize this recipe by doubling or tripling the recipe based on how many mini tarts you will need. I’m making six in this recipe.
How to Make Mini Key Lime Tarts
Ingredients
- 6 mini graham cracker crusts
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 large egg
- 4 oz. Key West Lime Juice
- 1 lime for zest
- store bought whipped cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Line up graham crackers crusts on a baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, mix (almost) one can sweetened condensed milk with one whole egg. The less sweetened condensed milk you add, the more tart it will be. I like tart, so I didn’t use the whole can.
- Add lime juice and continue mixing.
- Zest one lime and add to the mixture.
- Once combined, fill your graham cracker crusts to the top (these will not bake over).
- Bake 8-10 minutes or until the insides are slightly wiggly. You don’t want to burn the crusts. Mine took exactly 9 minutes to bake.
- Transfer to the fridge to cool for a few hours before serving.
- Top with whip cream.
Ingredients
I’ve been making key lime desserts forever! After sharing on Instagram, I had an old friend from our days in Charlotte comment that he loved when I made these (almost 20 years ago)! The key is the key lime juice that makes them tart! You can usually find this brand at most grocery stores.
As mentioned before, you can find these graham crackers crusts near the large crusts in the baking aisle. I love the individual serving size for these. These same graham cracker crusts are also perfect for my 3-ingredient lemon tartlets!
Purchasing store bought whipped cream is easiest for me! It takes two seconds to add to the top to make these extra pretty for serving. I know some people like to add a lime wedge for style, but I think they just get in the way of this easy to eat dessert. You could add a little more lime zest to the top which is easier to consume! Seriously, these mini lime tarts are such a fun dessert to serve in the summer! I hope you’ll try! XO
