We live in the suburbs and have a 13 year old home. That means we have an obnoxiously large closet space! And by obnoxious, I mean I love it. I don’t think I really cared all that much when we were looking but now that I’ve lived with it for 13 years, having a huge closet space is so nice. When you enter our closet space, we have a smaller section with built-ins, before you enter the main closet. This is what we call the shoe closet. It also holds laundry baskets and my jewelry station. Is this a luxury? 100000000%! Even if you don’t have a ton of space for just shoes, you might take away some things you like here. Here’s how I organize my shoe closet.

Shoe Organization
These built-in shoe racks are so convenient to be able to see everything clearly. We keep most of our shoes upstairs, but some hang out downstairs or in our garage. You know I love to purge and edit, but shoes are a weakness for me and my husband! I think because we have the space, we tend to keep more too. But this system keeps them organized. I purchased these plastic shoe organizers a few years ago and really love how they free up so much space. Using under shelf kitchen storage bins helps contain my flip flops and other summer shoes that don’t take up a lot of room. Lots of storage space left over too!

Laundry Storage
I love keeping two separate bins for laundry in this space. One for towels/wet clothes and one for regular clothes. We’ve had these same ones since we moved in.
Jewelry Storage
I have an entire blog post on this jewelry storage and cabinet situation. This little nook is perfect for holding all these items. And it looks aesthetically pleasing! You can find info and links in that post.

Hardwood Floors
We replaced our carpet with hardwood floors a few years ago and we love it so much! I plan to blog about the rest of the main closet and you can see more of the floors. Here is the post about the hardwood floors in our bedroom.
Artwork + Frame
This frame is from IKEA and the artwork inside is delicate paper we picked up on our travels to Seoul, South Korea for my 40th birthday. One bold print is easy to dust and packs a punch in this small space.
Faux Fur Rug
I wanted to bring in some coziness with a faux fur rug, especially after the hardwoods were installed. I love having this soft underfoot and I love the white contrast against the dark floors.

You can find links for the shoe storage and rug here. As well as similar laundry bins. I hope you found how I organize my shoe closet to be a source of inspiration even if this isn’t your exact set up! XO
