How to Use Tension Rods to Store Paper Towels

This probably seems silly and self explanatory, but I was blown away when I saw this storage solution on Instagram. I tried it for myself and it worked. Here is an easy bulk paper towel storage solution for those paper towels we have shoved in a closet somewhere and fall on our heads when we go to grab them! Here is how to use tension rods to store paper towels.

Where to Store Bulk Paper Towels

For our family, these extra paper towels get stored in a closet in our mudroom that is adjacent to our kitchen. Before I had them piled high on top of each other taking up almost all the top space of the closet shelf. This method works for a space like this, where the ceiling height is not far of from the shelf.

Using Tension Rods to Organize Paper Towels

When I saw this on Instagram, I thought it was so smart to use the vertical space in this closet. I purchased some heavy duty tension rods that were long enough to reach the bottom of the shelf and the top of closet. The ones I bought came in a two-pack. I was able to get two rows of storage by only using one rod to contain the paper towels on their side. Now, when you pull the bottom roll out, the others fall down and are contained in the space.

For our closet space, this will hold up to 12 extra rolls of paper towels. And there is now room to store toilet paper and tissues in the same space. I love when everything functions well in our home and everything has a place. Tension rods are super easy to use/assemble so you will have this organizational project done in less than five minutes! I hope you found how to use tension rods to store paper towels useful and helpful. XO
