My daughter, Kate, just turned 15 years old. She shares a Jack and Jill bathroom with the guest bedroom, which means she has a small sink area to herself and then shares a larger shower/toilet area with guests. Basically, she has this space to herself unless we have guests. That being said, the sink area portion of her bathroom is very tiny. We decided to revamp a few things to create more storage for her ever growing makeup, perfume, and daily essentials. Here’s how to add corner storage to a small bathroom countertop.
Storage Before
As mentioned before, this sink area is small and tight. The countertop is small. Kate is now 15 years old and tall and growing and the bathroom feels smaller and smaller. Before, she had a three-tier cart in the sink area. This is on wheels and was behind her. It stored makeup, hair products, etc. It is a wonderful storage solution, but it was feeling cramped and in the way. Here is the cart in the space before (we have since added new tile too).
This cart still holds many items Kate uses, we just moved it into the shower area so it’s not right on top of her. She can access items she doesn’t need/use everyday and it’s just a few feet away.
Adding Corner Storage on the Sink
Kate asked about finding a storage solution where everything could be at her fingertips on top of the counter. We searched and found this three-tier corner stand that fits perfectly on her countertop. This also comes in a two-tier option. It is large enough to fit her everyday items. We added a few storage containers to hold Q-tips, makeup brushes, and cotton rounds. Kate loves this new look an it doesn’t hinder the mirror space at all.
On the other side of the sink, we used a storage bin from IKEA to hold deodorant, toothpaste, lotion, etc. She also wanted to be able to access this easily.
Other Items in the Bathroom
The rug in her space is vintage from Etsy. You can search “small vintage rug”, or variations of this, and several options will pull up. This is a small space, so we needed a small rug. Just make sure you measure first!
These dark tile floors are new in the last year. We LOVE them!

Kate wears contacts and uses this IKEA wall mirror every day to put them in. Also great for makeup application!
