We had plans to join some friends for boxed wine and Chinese food to celebrate Pride month, so I decided to make something festive! 🌈 I knew my mom would come through with a delicious homemade fruit pizza recipe. She told me she’s had it for years and its the best one she’s ever had! Sold! My mom sent me a photo of a torn out recipe and the author is Mrs. Roger Frank from Arthur, Iowa. No telling how long she’s had this. Here’s ow to make a beautiful homemade fruit pizza.
As with anything homemade, this version takes a little longer. I know many people make the sugar cookie, frosting, fruit kind of pizza. This one is different and worth the effort! Homemade crust, homemade spread, and a homemade drizzle makes this one stand out.
Make a Homemade Crust
I decided to prep the crust and bake it on an ungreased pizza stone. Combine the ingredients below and assemble and press into a circle. I chopped the cold butter into small bits and used my hands to incorporate. Bake at 300 degrees for 20-30 minutes.
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 3/4 cup cold butter
Cream Cheese Spread
Combine these three ingredients and mix. After the crust has cooled, top with this cream cheese spread.
- 8oz. softened cream cheese
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon vanilla
Assemble the Fruit on the Pizza
Now it’s time to assemble your fruit onto your pizza. I wanted a rainbow theme so I grabbed strawberries, mandarin oranges, pineapple (save the juice from this for later), kiwi, blueberries, and purple grapes. Make sure your fruit is good and dry when you put on your pizza. Rinse and pat dry or let sit to air dry before adding to the pizza.
You can see from the photos how I arranged the fruit in a circle pattern.
Adding a Sweet Glaze to Top the Fruit Pizza
The final piece of this puzzle is to add a sweet glaze. I think this is really what sets this homemade fruit pizza recipe apart! Combine ingredients in a small sauce pan and cook until clear. Let cool. Drizzle on top of the pizza.
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup pineapple juice
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
And you’re done with your pizza. Admire your colorful masterpiece! Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve. I hope you enjoyed learning how to make a beautiful homemade fruit pizza. It’s such a festive summer dessert to bring to any gathering! XO
