My daughter, Kate, is 11 years old and we have been slightly tweaking her bedroom to fit her more “grown up” taste! Ha! She sleeps in a twin bed that is pushed up against an empty wall. We have discussed so many times about what to put on the blank wall, and finally decided on twinkle fairy lights. In this post I’ll show you how to easily install curtain twinkle lights. It literally takes just a few minutes and you’re done!
Curtain Lights
We searched Amazon and found an inexpensive set of curtain lights with excellent reviews. The lights come in a long strand with strings of lights coming down from the top. The dimensions actually fit perfectly for this wall, so we knew it was meant to be!
Installing Curtain Lights
After looking at the lights, we decided cup hooks would be the best way to hang the lights from the top of the wall. My husband drilled small holes near every other strand of lights and screwed in the white cup hooks.
And here is what the hooks look like for reference. The string lights actually just hang on the hooks, the lights aren’t attached to the wall in any way.
We used a total of 6 hooks on the wall. The hooks blend in to her light colored walls, so they aren’t an eye sore at all! Here is what the lights look like when they are not on.
These lights need to plugged into an outlet on the wall. My daughter has an outlet behind her bedframe so you can’t see it. The lights we chose also have eight different light settings…twinkle, slow glow, constant, etc. There is a box connected to the lights with a push button that changes the light feature you want.
Accessing the Battery Box
We decided that in order for to make it easier for Kate to change the light settings and to turn them on and off, she would need them accessible. Que the Command Strips! I love these things! We used a velcro Command Strip on either side of the battery box and on her bed frame to attach them. It works perfectly and it’s right at her fingertips,
Kate absolutely LOVES her new lights! She wants to hang out in her room and read in her bed and spend time in here! The curtain lights make her room super cozy. They also add whimsy and fun for this pre-teen space! My neighbor also shared with me that she installed some of these in her home office.
I have linked the exact lights we purchased! They are inexpensive and add such a vibe to any room! Hopefully this post helps you if you decide to add some curtain twinkle lights to an area of your home! XO
