It’s cold in Kansas City! It’s that time of year again when I want to light candles everyday. I don’t really do this in the warmer months, but there is something about the scents of fall/winter and the glow of a candle to make you feel cozy and warm. I picked up this cute little blue and white decorative item while thrifting this week and thought it would be perfect to store matches in the living room. That cobalt blue drew me in and it was only $1.99! Here’s how to create DIY match storage.
How to Create Match Storage
First, buy some cheap matches at the grocery store and add to your decorative object. Next, cut a small strip of the part where you strike the match (the gritty part). Use double sided tape to adhere it to the bottom of the container.
Now you have a pretty place to strike and store your matches! I love when items can be both functional and pretty to look at.
My orchid is on it’s last dying days. I don’t think the plant itself is dead, but all the pretty blooms are wilting and falling off. I typically have a super green thumb, but these orchids are giving me a run for my money! Hope you found this tip on how to create DIY match storage to be helpful! XO

Someday I will be able to have lovely lovelies on a low coffee table again, right? Sigh. So pretty. 🙂

Haha! Yes, soon enough you will be able to, but until then, enjoy your littles while they are little! Every stage is fun and kids get better with age (in my opinion), but you must savor every stage. In the grand scheme of life, who really cares if a coffee table is pretty or not?! 🙂

Hi Pat, I have taken your advice and moved it to my master bath. It gets good sunlight and hopefully the humidity will help it bloom! Thank you!
Update: I moved this orchid into my master bath and it has LOTS of buds now! None have them have opened yet, but I'm hopeful! Thanks for the tip! xo
