When we first moved into our house and started tweaking/adding landscaping, we added four stone pavers to the flowerbed off of the back patio. The bed was in an area of high traffic and a shortcut to the covered patio, so we knew we needed a natural walkway for people to take. Here’s how to add stone pavers to your landscaping. **These are updated photos from May 2024. The stone pavers have held up for 10 years!**
We decided to add more pavers in the front yard in two different spots, and one more spot on the side yard. Basically, we put them in any spot that gets high traffic or where there is a shortcut and it’s a natural path. These keep people from walking/running through the landscaping, and instead take the “steps”. The mulch does come on top of the pavers, but nothing that can’t be quickly brushed off. I haven’t found that to be a problem at all.
Where to Purchase Stone Pavers
We purchased these stone pavers at home depot, in the 12 x 18 size. I liked the natural look of these stones, they were a good price, and the size was right. They have held up so well over the years.
Leveling and Laying
These stones are thin, which make them easy to level off with paver sand and a little patience. Simply clear out the space you want to put them and add some leveling sand. Tamp this down evenly and place the paver on top. They will really settle in over time. We just eyeballed where to place them, so they aren’t perfectly spaced, but good enough. Thanks to my husband for completing these kind of projects for me! I have the vision, he’s good at executing!
I hope this post on how to add stone pavers to your landscaping was helpful. Not only do these provide function, they do a nice job of breaking up all the black mulch. And, they give the landscaping some dimension, which I love. What an easy and inexpensive fix! Small projects that make a big impact make me happy. XO
Our Hopeful Home says
Stepping stones are always a great idea. I really like the ones you chose. We have some darker ones, but I like your lighter ones better!
