How to Organize School Papers and Keepsakes

school file folders

Are you sick of your child’s school papers and artwork and photos and report cards laying around in random places?! I’m going to share how to organize school papers and keepsakes in a simple and compact way. My oldest is starting Kindergarten in a few weeks (eek!), which was the perfect motivation to get this project completed.

Items Needed for Storage

This is a super simple project and once you have all your supplies it takes no time at all to finish.

After getting all of the labels adhered, I dropped the manila folders into the hanging file folders. Next, I added my kid’s names to the front of the bins. I’m loving the personalized touch and the punch of color.

There is plenty of room to grow with these tubs, so storage space will not be an issue. UPDATE: I’m also learning as my kids get older that they bring home less and less stuff, which also saves on space.

I’m not a “saver” by nature, but I know these will be great for storing report cards, school pictures, mementos, certificates, and any other special items. And as soon as they move out on their own they can decide if they want to take this with them or keep it with mom.

I hope you learned something about how to organize school papers and keepsakes. It is so mind blowing to see the years 2025-26 and 2026-27 as their senior years of high school! We store these bins in our office closet and I file their papers about twice a year. I’m so happy this project is done! XO
