There are images all over Pinterest of framed fabric, using embroidery hoops as the frame. I picked up a large hoop for less than a dollar a while back at a thrift store and decided to frame a piece of fabric from an outfit Kate wore when she was little. This little gallery wall in Kate’s room is fun to add too. The bold fabric feels meant for the space. Here’s how to use an embroidery hoop as a frame.
How to Add Fabric
This project takes about 30 seconds to put together! Cut your fabric to size and insert in your hoop. You can leave a little extra around the edges that can be tucked behind. I was able to insert a little nail right at the top of the hoop in order to hang it. Kate’s room really doesn’t have a theme, it is just full of color and whimsy and fun. This might be the easiest DIY project ever!
Choosing a Fabric
While living in South Carolina, a friend of mine made little pillow case dresses for Kate (right) and my niece (Mia-left) to wear to a wedding. I can’t believe Kate was ever that small!
After Kate grew out of the dress, I threw it in my stash of fabric. I’m so happy to finally be using it again in a different way! Especially in her room.
Gallery Wall Breakdown
Hot air balloon/elephant art: thrift store – $3
Framed “K”: thrifted – $5
Brass Owl (it’s actually a trivet for the kitchen): thrift store – $2
Tiny ballerina: gift from great grandma
Mini chalkboard: Pottery Barn Kids Outlet – $10
I know it has been a while since I have posted anything about Kate’s room. Here are past posts/tutorials from her bedroom (images will be from old house and current house). I hope you found how to use an embroidery hoop as a frame super easy! XO

Just wanted you to know that you've inspired me again! I bought fabric hoops over a year ago to do this in Vivian's room and never did it! I never thought about using an old dress to add sentimental value to it! Thanks again for helping me get motivated! 😉
He Renee-I love the look of several of the hoops placed together. Send me a pic when you are all done!!
Great idea to make the hoop art from their dress! I love it!

I love your idea of using fabric from one of your daughter's outfits. Precious. You have made a gorgeous room for her! I am a new follower and look forward to seeing more of your posts! Have a lovely day!
I wanted to let you know that I featured your wall hanging! Beautiful choice of fabric also. Colorful. Clean. Pinned also.
What color are K's walls? I love it!
We did this with my MOPS group but added a layer of cork board and then cardboard behind the fabric to make mini cork boards. Super cute!
