To know us is to know we are a traveling family! We have taken ourselves and our kids all over the world and our home is filled with travel treasures. This artwork is a nod to our past travels and future travels! I love the bold print and typography. This little wall near the kitchen needed an update so I found some inexpensive artwork on Etsy to frame. I feel like it works with our aesthetic and our family. Here is how to hang poster wall art from Etsy.
CIAO Poster Print
I think this CIAO print might have popped up on my Pinterest feed and it caught my eye and thought it would be perfect for us. The bold lettering and black and white feels dramatic, which I love. After searching for the shop on Etsy, I decided to go for it. I purchased the download of this print on Etsy for less than $5. There are several of these posters all over Etsy. You can find different fonts and colorways and words.
Having it Printed
Once you receive the download, you can choose whatever size you want to print the poster. I knew I wanted large, so I was looking to print a 30 x 40 poster size. After doing a little searching online, I landed on ordering from Canvas On Demand. The print cost around $35 (with a coupon code) and shipping was less than $10. It came delivered in a secure tube and the finish was just what I was wanting.
Choosing a Frame
I really liked the stock image photos of this print with a gold frame, perfect for our white walls. After doing some searching for a very large poster frame, I ordered this gold one from Amazon (I like how easy it is to return if I don’t love something). It’s not easy to find a decent looking poster frame in 30 x 40. When it arrived, I liked the finish and it had an easy mechanism for hanging. Done!
Adding the Print to the Frame
We came into a snag when we added the print to the frame. I just blindly figured that a 30 x 40 print and a 30 x 40 frame would align. Turns out, it didn’t. The poster was just slightly, and I mean slightly, too big for the frame. It actually fit, but it was looking bubbly and wouldn’t lay completely flush. My husband suggested we trim the edges ever so slightly with an exacto knife to get it to fit flush. So, that’s what we did! I recommend having two people for this as you want to make sure the paper is straight and flat. We used a metal ruler to guide the exacto knife along the edges. We seriously cut so little off you wouldn’t be able to tell, but it did work and the print slid right in after trimming. In order to know how much to cut off, we used the back piece of the poster frame as a guide. This frame is a poster frame, so the front piece is not solid glass. Because we hung it near a bank of windows with a lot of natural light, the glare can sometimes make the print hard to see from certain angles. Just an FYI!
How to Hang the Oversized Poster Wall Art
This particular frame came with the hanging pieces on the back (vertical and horizontal). My husband used an anchor and screw to hang in no time! The frame itself is not super heavy, just large and cumbersome.
I’m loving this little update to our living space. It feels modern and dramatic and bold. Of course, I love the black and white and the fact that is semi-custom since we pulled it all together ourselves! Happy traveling! XO
