I want to start showing you a few things I made for Kate’s princess tea party that was this past weekend. Here’s how to make iced pound cake squares. These were a hit! This recipe is semi-homemade, so it’s right up my alley.
Ingredients to Make Iced Pound Cake Squares
- store bought frozen pound cake
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 4 tablespoons water
- 1 drop red food coloring
How to Make Iced Pound Cake Squares
Purchase a store bought pound cake. Shave off the edges of the cake like this.
Cut the pound cake into squares and set on top of a cooking rack. Then place that on top of a cookie sheet. This is to catch the excess frosting you will pour over.
Using a hand mixer, mix 2 cups powdered sugar, 4 tablespoons of water, and one drop of red food coloring. This one drop will make the frosting pink. The consistency was runny! Don’t panic! You want to be able to pour it over so it needs to be runny. Start pouring the frosting over the pound cake squares. You can grab some of the excess and keep pouring over until they are coated.
While the frosting was fresh, I added some edible pearls to the tops to make them more “fancy” for the tea party. Once you have them decorated, pop them into the refrigerator and let them harden overnight.

These cake squares turned out really cute and they were delicious! Perfect for birthdays, showers, school treats, etc. Next time I will make the squares smaller so they are more bite-sized for smaller kids. I hope you enjoyed how to make iced pound cake squares and you’ll give them a try! XO
