Kate recently had a princess tea party birthday party. For the party, I focused on decorating the table where the girls would be eating lunch and doing crafts. I decided to add a large DIY pom to the back of each chair to add a little whimsy and “fanciness”. These are so easy and cheap to make and they make a large impact! Using the same technique as I used for Kate’s pom cluster, these came together in no time. Here are different ways to decorate with tissue paper poms.
Materials Needed
I used two packages of pastel tissue paper from Dollar Tree, fishing wire, and floral wire. As per the instructions, you use the tissue paper and floral wire to make the poms. You sse the fishing wire to tie the poms to the back of each chair.
Use Poms on the Back of Chairs
When I made the poms, I decided they were a little too big/long. After the accordion fold was done, I cut them down a little. When I was done cutting, I was left with eight smaller folded tissues.
Mini Treat Bag Embellishments
I decided to turn those extra smaller poms into treat bag embellishments. The white paper bags are also from Dollar Tree (2 to a pack). These paper poms are such an easy way to dress up a cheap paper bag! I was thinking red and green poms would be cute for Christmas!
A few days after the party, the poms are still on the chairs. They are so cute, I can’t bear to throw them out! I hope this was helpful in learning how to decorate with tissue paper poms. What a simple, inexpensive, and impactful decoration! XO
