Affordable Cabinet for Jewelry Storage

We have a little awkward corner in our primary closet area that I wanted to utilize for storage. Our closet is stupid huge, but I’m not complaining! When you first walk into our closet, there is a small hallway with shoe storage. It’s also where we keep our laundry bins. There is one small corner where I wanted to add my jewelry. I searched for a simple and affordable piece that would work in this space and came across this IKEA RUDSTA cabinet. It fits perfectly and has lots of storage capacity! Here is how to use an affordable cabinet for jewelry storage.

IKEA RUDSTA Cabinet

Not only did this work out as far as size, but I love the glass door and shelves and black base. The glass keeps the piece from feeling heavy, but the black compliments are style and pops against the cream walls. If you utilize the top, this piece as five square shelves. The door opens and closes very easily. You will obviously need to dust as the black shows everything! This RUDSTA is only $99 so you can’t go wrong here! I did add felt pads to the bottom so it doesn’t scratch our hardwood floors. You will see that I don’t have a ton of jewelry so I have room to grow here! I’m a wear the same five earrings for months at a time kind of gal!

How I Utilize Each Shelf for Jewelry Storage

Top Shelf

This is purely decorative as I didn’t need another shelf for storage. I added some fun art and a few coffee table books. The shell was brought back from our travels to Mexico. Keeping this area simple makes it easy to dust and doesn’t feel cluttered. The artwork is just leaned for ease (Homegoods find).

First Glass Shelf

I added an acrylic bracelet holder and a small jewelry holder with drawers. The bracelets slide on and off the stand and the holder with drawers stores small earrings, watch accessories, and rings. This actually holds a lot and mine isn’t full by any means. It’s a great piece and it is aesthetically pleasing! I like having these items that I grab for the most at eye level.

Second Glass Shelf

I have tons of larger style earrings, and I admittedly don’t wear then very often anymore. I’m not ready to get rid of them yet though – everything comes back around, right?! This felt storage piece is perfect for larger items. Everything is easy to see and softness of the piece makes it quiet when moved around. For the necklaces hanging on the back, I added black magnetic hooks to the back of the shelf to hang them from. This is the perfect solution for hanging necklaces easily!

Third Shelf

As I said earlier, I have lots of room to grow with this piece and I don’t have a ton of jewelry! This shelf holds a fun disco ball and more necklaces hanging on the back. The disco ball gives the piece a little shine, fun, and dimension!

Bottom Shelf

I decided to add a textured basket to the bottom of this shelf to hold scarves and bandanas. This adds dimension and a pop of color and sort of adds some weight to the bottom of the piece. You could easily add these baskets on every shelf and use the piece for all kinds of things, not just jewelry!

Overall, this is an affordable cabinet for jewelry storage, or any storage needs! I love the compact size and height. I’m had this system for over a year and I have zero complaints! I hope this was helpful if you were looking for something similar. Find all links in one here. XO
