The Best LED Light Bulbs for Can Lights

We have what feels like a million can lights throughout our home. When we built out our basement in 2016, the builder added can light bulbs that we loved. We started using them all throughout the house. They felt warm and soft, while also feeling bright. Come November 2023, I needed some replacement bulbs and I couldn’t find them anywhere. I knew we needed to just switch over to LED. So, I went on a little mission to find bulbs that looked/felt like the ones we love. Good news, it wasn’t hard and we found a winner! Here is the best LED light bulbs for can lights (in our opinion of course)!

Option #1

Ecosmart Motion Sensor with Customizable Color Switch – This bulb is nice because it has an indoor motion sensor. In the end I think this would annoy me, but in the right space, it might work. The color placed at Bright White 3000k was spot on. You can adjust the temperature and color by simply changing a switch on the light bulb. These are around $11 for two bulbs. Life expectancy is 22 years and uses 8.8 watts of energy.

Option #2

Philips Ultra Efficient LED 65-Watt BR30 Floodlight Light Bulb, Clear Soft White, Dimmable, E26 Base – This bulb was also *almost* identical to the ones we use and love. No one would be able to tell the difference. At $11 for one bulb, this came in the most expensive of the three, but definitely a great option! The life expectancy of these bulbs is the best at 45.7 years. These also use the lowest energy at 4.5 watts.

Option #3

Bioluz LED 8 Pack 90 CRI BR30 LED Dimmable Bulb, 65W Replacement 7.5W=65W 650 Lumen, 3000K Soft White Indoor/Outdoor Flood Light UL Listed Title 20 High Efficacy Lighting – These light bulbs are from Amazon. Just like the other two, the color was spot on (almost identical). This option comes in an 8-pack, which is nice to have extras on hand. They also came in the lest expensive at $4.50. Life expectancy is 23 years and uses 7.5 watts of energy.

As mentioned before, all three of these options are great and provide the color we liked. We are keeping the Amazon light bulbs based on price, ease of getting them, and having a box on hand is nice for us. Eventually we will get all of our can lights switched over to these LED ones.

So many LED light bulbs seem to be cold, super bright white, and uninviting. I think all three of these are winners if you prefer soft, warm, and bright light like we do! Choosing light bulbs feels like it should be easy, but it’s such a personal preference! I hope this helped you in your search for the best LED light bulbs for can lights. XO
