Okay, let me start by saying these seasoned oyster crackers are truly addicting! NOT possible to just eat a few! You have been warned. I know this isn’t a new recipe, but it’s the first time I’ve made this snack recipe in 41 years, so I wanted to share in case you are in the same boat.
My son gets credit for bringing this snack into our lives after he had to make for his 7th grade cooking class. So actually, his foods teacher gets the credit. It happened to be during Covid/hybrid school, and he was home doing his cooking, so we all got to enjoy them! Keep reading to find out how to make easy and addicting seasoned oyster crackers.
You can obviously add these seasoned oyster crackers to soups or salads, or just dig on in for a snack. This recipe is so easy to make, literally kids can do it! You likely have everything on hand besides the crackers. And, a bonus…these crackers cost less than $1, so it’s affordable too.
Seasoned Oyster Crackers
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup oil (I used grapeseed, but use whatever you cook with)
- 2 Tablespoons ranch seasoning
- 1 teaspoon dill weed
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- oyster crackers (original recipe calls for 16 oz, I only used 9oz)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 250 degrees
- Combine first 4 ingredients in a bowl
- Pour over oyster crackers and gently toss until coated
- Spread evenly on an ungreased cookie sheet
- Bake 15-20 minutes
The original recipe calls for double the crackers. I used half the amount of crackers and the same amount of seasoning for extra flavor! It’s the dill for me! Because these get baked at a low temperature, this is the perfect beginner snack for kids to try to make.
We store these in a ziplock bag and keep in the pantry. These won’t last long though! Perfect to set out for a get together, to throw in a lunch, or to top soups and salads.
Please tell me I’m not the only one that has never made these easy and addicting seasoned oyster crackers before 2020! Ha! Happy snacking! XO
