We’ve been hosting Thanksgiving for many years! It’s one of the few times a year we actually use our formal dining room, so I always like to make it look nice and extra special. Here is our cozy Thanksgiving tablescape from last year. I loved it so much, I might just copy and paste this year!
Add Faux Fur
The cozy factor gets supercharged with the faux fur throw rugs on 6 of the 8 chairs. They get left on the chairs even when we eat! I’m all about beauty and aesthetics when it comes to my surroundings! For me, plants add to the cozy feel of the space because I love them so much.
Use the “Good” China
Thanksgiving is also the one time of year I bust out my “good” china dishes. We got married back in the day when you actually registered for sets of dishes! I probably wouldn’t do it again, but since I have them, I like to use them. They are classic and neutral so they work. I then layered a cheap silver charger, the dinner plate, and an appetizer plate. Add your silverware and your water/wine glasses.
Neutral Cloth Napkins
I’m certainly not above paper napkins! There are so many cute ones that seem appropriate even for a more formal tablescape. Here, I used striped and cream cloth napkins, tying them once to give some interest and dimension to the table.
Add Candles + Flowers
Lastly, I just added a few candles and a bouquet of white roses. Using simple tea lights adds a flicker of light, but they are low enough that your guests can see across the table to talk. The white roses are just a classic touch and they work with the faux fur and the neutral look I was going for.
Our dining room table seats eight, but it is not very big. I didn’t want to add too much “stuff” as it makes the table feel cluttered. Casual and comfy with a touch of special is what I am always going for!
The textured vase was a thrifted find. I was able to place the stems in a small mason jar and then slip the mason jar into the smaller lip of the vase. It worked out perfectly!
Festive Bar Cart
Last but not least, I spruced up our bar cart with some fall stems and a gold garland. The bar cart is one of my favorite parts of our dining room. The vintage find of my dreams!
I hope this cozy Thanksgiving tablescape gives you a little inspiration for your own gatherings! This set up would easily work for Christmas too! XO
