I’m here to share my 2020 Made in Iowa Spring Gift Guide with all of you! I want to help you find gifts for all the moms, dads, grads, teachers, coworkers, and friends in your life! All items shared are from makers/retailers in the great state of Iowa. I love to shop small and local, both in my own city, and in places that are near and dear to my heart. Iowa happens to be one of those places! I’m a Midwestern girl with strong ties to Iowa. And though I currently live in Kansas City, I will always consider myself “Iowa Nice”!
This is a sponsored post in collaboration with Travel Iowa. All contents, writing, and thoughts are my own!
My Ties to Iowa
My history with Iowa is that I lived in both Sioux City, IA and Storm Lake, IA as a little girl. I grew up just on the other side of the Mississippi River from Iowa throughout elementary, middle, and high school. I’ve been an Iowa Hawkeye fan for as long as I can remember and ended up attending the University of Iowa and meeting my husband there! We are a die hard Hawkeye family! My parents, as well as my sister and her family all currently live in Des Moines, IA (just 3 hours from us), as well as many other friends and family.
Iowa has such a warm and friendly feeling about it. I love the small town feel and the down to earth vibe. I love the people and the unexpected treasures that can be found in Iowa. Shopping local is a great way to give back to a place and people you love!
Shop the Iowa Spring Gift Guide
First up is a shop I talked about in the winter gift guide, Doe A Deer Design. I love everything about their one of a kind designs and their aesthetic. Items from this shop are perfect for moms and teachers, or anyone who loves to cook or spend time in their kitchen. I think I need the plant lady flour sack towel. They are located in Stuart, IA, but they ship everywhere!
Next up is Bozz Prints, located in Historic Valley Junction in Des Moines, IA. I love the Midwestern vibe of this shop that John Bosley started in 2015. You can find items representing all of your favorite spaces and places in print form (starting at $3). The items in this shop would be perfect for the men in your life! I’m sharing two print options below that are near and dear to my heart…Iowa City and Kansas City! I think this is a great gift idea for new homeowners or a new graduate as well. These prints have such a personal touch.
I found this woman owned shop, Fiber and Vessel, out of Iowa City, IA and fell in love with every single piece in the shop! They offer handmade jewelry and accessories that are chic and classic. These are statement pieces that anyone would love to receive as a gift! You will support Iowa local and also support women when you shop here. I’ve got the Coalesence Necklace on my wishlist!
My “Iowa Nice” tee is from The Maker’s Loft, located in downtown Iowa City. They sell local apparel, blankets, candles, and a number of eclectic items perfect for gift giving. I think the Iowa Beard Company oil they sell would be a perfect Father’s Day or birthday gift. They also sell locally made hot sauces for the foodie in your life!
Everyone is living in tee shirts and sweatshirts right now, so I thought it would be fun to include this screen print and design shop in the round up! The Vinyl Studio is located in Des Moines, Iowa and they celebrate all things Midwestern! I love the look and feel of their shop. The Iowa beer tee speaks to me and it’s going in my cart!
Who doesn’t love a great smelling candle?! Milkhouse Candle Company is located in Osage, IA, and they make clean burning soy and beeswax candles. I’m not kidding when I tell you they have over 50 different scents, so there is a scent for everyone! They package the candles in mason and butter jars, which makes them look very handmade. Love!
And last but not least is Urban Farmhouse, located in Davenport, IA. They are a gift shop that offers so many different and unique items! The Urban Farmhouse Blanket is the signature of their shop. Giving a gift of a soft blanket works for all ages! Perfect for someone heading off to college or to give as a housewarming gift to a friend or neighbor. They ship for free over $30! I also thought the scratch off cards they sell could be cute to send someone during this time!
I hope you found something that inspired you in this round up! When you shop this 2020 Made In Iowa Spring Gift Guide, you support small business and makers in Iowa. You support a state you love and will bring a smile to the face of the recipient when you gift them something locally handmade and sourced! There is something for everyone! XO
