It’s that time between Christmas and spring when my porch feels so blah! I decided I was over my “winter” porch, so I made a DIY feather wreath using simple supplies. With Valentine’s Day approaching, I hit up Joanne Fabrics and started with some white feather boas. I’m using a heart shaped wreath here, but you can use any sort of wreath form. Here’s how to make a DIY feather wreath.
Supplies Needed to Make a DIY Feather Wreath
Honestly, this wreath couldn’t be any easier!
- Heart wreath form (any smooth wreath form will work here)
- White feather boas are from Joann Fabrics. Boas weirdly cost more than you think! Using coupons, I got both for $9 total. I honestly didn’t shop around, so maybe you can get them cheaper elsewhere (Dollar Tree maybe?)
- Push pins
How to Create a Feather Wreath
I first tried wrapping the boas around the wreath, but I could still see a little brown though the feathers. As a remedy to this issue, I wrapped the wreath in white ribbon I already had in my stash. This way if any showed through it would be the same color as the boas. You could use felt or anything white to wrap around this. Even better would be to grab a white foam wreath form if you’re using white feather! I used push pins to secure the ribbon on the back.
Now I was ready to wrap the boas around. I secured the start with a pushpin and used one full boa for half the heart. After the boa is wrapped, secure with another push pin.
Next, repeat on the other side with second boa. This takes no time at all and it’s literally ready to be hung because there is no hot glue! I love the whimsy of the white feathers against our black door.
This is the only decorating I do for Valentine’s Day! Simple and chic and a little different.
It’s supposed to warm up here over the next several days! Yay! I’m on the countdown for spring…I need sunlight and warmth and a green yard and flowers blooming. I hope you enjoyed learning how to make this DIY feather wreath! XO

I love your DYI feather heart. I know it saved quite a bit of money. I have a read feather boa and I am inspired to do the same thing! I will send you some of our unseasonably warm weather. We have been above 70 degrees for days! In the deep south, you come to enjoy the cooler temperatures!
