Over the past year, we have been making a few slight changes to Kate’s room. Nothing major, just making it a little bit more “big girl”. I’m not a fan of nurseries or kid rooms where they don’t like look a child lives there. You only have one room growing up and I feel it should reflect a child’s space, not an adult space. I also feel as kids get older that bedrooms should be warm and cozy, but also functional for play, schoolwork, etc. Here’s how to style a desk in a girl’s room.
Small Desk + Chair
We decided to incorporate a small desk in the corner of her room. Kate loves to write notes, color, and draw at this desk. It feels like her own, and I think that is important for her at this age.
Pinboard Catch-All
Because this is a small little space, we moved an old pinboard to her room. I feel is a must in any child’s room. When in doubt where something goes, stick it on the pinboard! This is such a nice way to personalize a bedroom. It’s also a good way to move things up and utilize wall space. It kind of serves as “art” above the desk.
Bin + Lamp on a Desk in a Girl’s Room
Additionally, we added an acrylic “catch-all” to hold all of her calendars and sticky notes and reading calendar and stickers, as well as markers/pens/pencils. It’s so cute when she and Drew write notes back and forth to each other. #pleasedontevergrowup
A small lamp puts of cozy lighting when working at the desk space.
I hope you like how we styled a desk in a girl’s room! You really don’t need a large space to make it cute and functional! Desk is from Ikea. Chair was thrifted and redone by me! Pinboard is a cheap cork board covered in a simple linen fabric. Acrylic tray and and lamp are both from Ross. xo

This is perfect for a little girls room… a place to hang all her stuff! Love the plant hanging in the window! Have a great weekend, Andrea!
