I hope your new year is off to a great start! All of the Christmas decorations have been packed away over here! Thank goodness we were able to get all of our outside lights down this weekend before this arctic blast hit us. We are breaking records with low temps here in KC and school was cancelled today. One more day before the routine smacks us in the face! Winter is not my thing, so I am already on a spring countdown! I was able to complete a quick little DIY project as we were cooped up this weekend. We needed a little something for our porch for January. I came up with a super simple DIY natural winter wreath. It looks perfect against our blue door (which looks grey in these pictures, but the lighting is never right on our porch in the winter).
What You Need to Make a Natural Winter Wreath
- Large grapevine wreath
- Gold spray paint
- White spray paint
- Winter stems
- Pinecones
- Fishing wire
- Hot glue
Steps to Make a Natural Winter Wreath
- Spray paint the grapevine wreath with one coat of gold spray paint.
- Spray a thin coat of white spray paint over the gold (once the gold is dry).
- I found these stems with “ice pellets”. I sort of wrapped them around the side of the wreath and secured with fishing wire. It also helps to tuck the stems inside the grapevine to make them extra secure. You could also hot glue these on.
- Gather or purchase some pinecones and start hot gluing to the wreath. There is no right or wrong here but they look the best clustered.
The grapevine cost me about $4.20, and the branches cost me about $5. I already had the spray paint and pinecones, so this wreath came in under $10!
