For all of you that ask me, “how do you find the time?”…You really can create this mirror while your kids nap.  I know, because I did! Here’s how to create a DIY sunburst mirror of your own!

Sunburst mirrors are ALL OVER blogland, and the inspiration for mine came from JandJ Home via this post.  I ended up liking the look and the scale much more than I thought I was going to! It was easy and was inexpensive to create.  I love the natural look of it with the cedar shims!

Supplies Needed:

The Process:

I glued down the first layer of shims at the same length all the way around.

Two packages of shims allows to make three layers. It worked for me to glue the last two layers closer to the center and filled in where it looked bare. Please note that you can’t mess this up! I’m an eyeballed by nature!

Adding the Mirror

I picked up a 12″ inexpensive craft mirror from Hobby Lobby. Add wood glue to the back and place in the center on top of the wood shims.

Because I wanted to make sure the mirror was secure, I put a stack of books and a heavy candle holder on top of the mirror over night.

I haven’t hung this DIY sunburst mirror yet because I don’t know where I want to put it! Love the scale and natural look! xo
